Save on Yarn at the Lion Brand Outlet

Sunday was my 44th birthday.  I had a delicious brunch at Mighty Quinn’s in Clifton, NJ.  If you like BBQ, you have to try Mighty Quinn’s.  It was delicious.  But, I digress… After brunch, my Mom wanted to pick up some yarn and hooks at Michaels because she plans to teach my aunt Margo to crochet.  We were close to the Lion Brand Outlet so we decided to check out the outlet first.  You can really save on yarn at the Lion Brand Outlet.

Location

The outlet is located at 140 Kero Road, Carlstadt, NJ 07072.  If you’re familiar with NJ landmarks, the outlet is located behind MetLife Stadium; close to the Lincoln Tunnel.

Hours

They are open 10AM – 5PM Monday through Thursday and Sunday; and 9AM – 4PM on Friday.  They are closed on Saturdays.

Assortment

You will find a great assortment of Lion Brand products at the outlet.  There is yarn in different weights and colors.  There are also tools and kits.

one-and-done-kits-606-153_94_rt-1During my visit, I purchased the One & Done Swipe Right Crochet Cowl Kit.  It includes the yarn, crochet hook, tapestry needle and printed pattern.  I’m looking forward to making this project in the coming weeks.

Updated 3/4/18:  I love the crochet cowl I made from the One & Done kit.  See my latest post – 3 Chunky Crochet Cowls – for the pattern.

I also purchased Kitchen Cotton yarn.  Not sure what I’m going to use it for yet but I couldn’t resist the colors – Tropic Breeze and Blue Ice – or the price.  This yarn was sold as a 3-pack for $6, which was a savings of $5.

You’ll get the biggest savings on the yarn which is sold in packs.  If you have a specific project in mind, make sure you buy enough yarn.  If you fall in love with a color or texture, don’t feel guilty.  Remember, it’s on sale.

Classes

They offer a variety of project-oriented classes on Sundays starting at $50.  Click here to view the class schedule.  They also offer Bring Your Own help sessions, starting at $35, where an instructor will help you with any project you’re working on.

Fun Displays

Lucas really enjoyed the displays at the Lion Brand outlet.  His favorite were the child-sized animals and yarn-wrapped bicycle.  My favorite was the Cyclone.  I grew up going to Coney Island with my family and have memories of the thrilling whip lash ride on the Cyclone.

The times I’ve visited the Lion Brand Outlet I always see groups of women who you can tell have made an afternoon of visiting the store.  When I visited with my Mom this weekend, we saw a group of nuns shopping for yarn.  Make a date with your Mom, daughter or best friend to visit the Lion Brand Outlet.  It was a fun way for me to bond and spend time with my Mom and son on my birthday.

Have you been to the Lion Brand Outlet?  What did you buy and what did you make?  Please share in the comments below.

Happy Crafting!

I love the Lion Brand Outlet and have been visiting for a few years now. I’ve taken a few friends to introduce them to knitting and crocheting, some took and some didn’t. I’ve made a few trips with my daughter for supplies for school projects and a few personal ones. What I’m trying to plan is a trip with my local yarn group once the weather is more stable.
