10 Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas for Sisters & Best Friends

If someone gives you a handmade gift, they are not being cheap.  Consider the time they spent finding the materials and making you a unique and special gift.  They did it because they love you.

I love this quote because it captures the reason why I enjoy making handmade gifts for family and friends.  Yesterday, I visited Target – my happy place – and found pretty fabric bags and ceramic dishes which I couldn’t resist buying.  I was inspired to make these Valentine’s Day gifts for my sister and nieces.  I paired my Target finds with handmade goats milk soaps in different sizes to make girlie gift sets.

Here are some additional items you can use to fill these Valentine’s Day bags and make personalized gifts for your sisters and best friends:

  • Candy – Valentine’s Day candy doesn’t have to be fancy.  Find a pretty container or bag and fill it with her favorite candy.  Sour Patch Kids are popular with my sister and nieces.
  • Snacks – Bake or buy their favorite bite-sized snacks.  When my husband was on the Weight Watchers program, I purchased a heart-shaped tin and filled it with an assortment of his favorite Weight Watchers snacks.  There is no need to feel guilty giving or receiving this gift.
  • Crafternoon – If your friend is crafty, give her a gift card and schedule a date for a crafternoon.  You can both look forward to some quality time together.
  • Jewelry – Find a fun piece of jewelry with her initial, birth stone or an inspirational phrase.  Every time she wears it, it will remind her of you and your special bond.
  • Manicure Kit – Create a manicure kit with hand cream, nail polish, nail clippers, file, cotton rounds and nail polish remover.
  • Travel Kit – If they’re going on a trip soon or travel for work, travel-sized products are the best.  They will fit nicely in the fabric bag and come in handy next time she travels.
  • Charging Kit – Our electronics are constantly in need of charging.  Target and Five Below have functional and fun chargers and power banks in metallics and prints.  She can drop your gift in her purse for the next time her iPhone dies.
  • Accessory – Does your friend have a signature accessory or something she collects?  I have a collection of scissors.  I display my collection in my craft space and use them depending on the project I’m working on.

Giving a thoughtful gift is easy if you take the time to find a pretty gift bag or box, and think about what your gift recipient likes.  What would you use to fill these Valentine’s Day bags?  Let me know in the comments section below.

Happy Valentine’s Day!!
