Crochet Fingerless Gloves

I’ve been wanting to make myself fingerless gloves for a while.  At my old office, they had a hard time controlling the temperature in different areas of the floor, so I often found myself wearing gloves in the middle of the summer.  Gloves are great for staying warm outdoors, but it’s hard to type in them.  I love the Scarfie yarn I purchased at the Lion Brand outlet and decided to make crochet fingerless gloves to match my new cowl.  I can’t wait to wear them!

Row 1:  Ch 7, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch after.  Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: 1 sc, 4 sc blo, 1 sc.  Ch 1, turn.

Rows 2-20:  Repeat row 2.

Before it’s joined, the cuff should measure 2″ W x 6.5″ L.  Fold piece in half and sl st together to form the cuff (see image above).  Turn inside out.

You will now be working around one edge of the cuff to form the glove.

Pattern – Glove

This pattern calls for turning at the beginning of each row.  Use a stitch marker to mark the chain so you know where to join at the end of each row.  Also, you will be alternating between working from the outside and inside of the glove.

Row 1: Ch 1, turn.  Sc evenly 20 st around.  Sl st to first sc to join.  This row should be worked from the outside.

Row 2: Ch 1, turn.  Sc in each sc around, sl st to join.

Rows 3-15:  Repeat row 2.  Glove should measure 6″ including cuff.

Row 16 is where you will create the thumb opening.

Row 16 Left Glove: Ch 1, turn. Sc in first 10 sc, ch 4 sk 4 st, 6 sc.  Sl st to join.  You will be working this row from the outside.

Row 16 Right Glove: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st around, leave last 4 st unworked.  Ch 4, sl st to first sc to join.

Row 17: Ch 1, turn.  Sc in each st around, making 4 sc in each ch 4 space.

Rows 18-21: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st around.  Sl st to join.

Row 22: Ch 1, turn.  Sl st in each st around, then join.  Finish off and weave in yarn tails.

Glove measures 7 1/2″ L including cuff.

It’s never too early to prepare for the cold weather.  These fingerless gloves are easy to make, functional and cute.  Pick up your favorite bulky yarn in a great color and make a pair for yourself or a friend.  Use #latinamominnyc to share pictures of your fingerless gloves.  Here are more crochet patterns using Lion Brand Yarn.
