BBQ Ribs Recipe

These BBQ country style ribs can be made on the grill or using your oven’s broiler.  My marinade will infuse flavor into your ribs so you can serve them “naked” (i.e. without BBQ sauce) for the little ones.  These ribs are guaranteed to be tender and delicious.

BBQ Country Style Ribs

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 lb boneless country style ribs; serves 4 people
  • 1/2 packet Goya Sazon
  • 1 tablespoon Goya Adobo
  • 1 tablespoon oregano
  • 3 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 cup Kraft slow-simmered BBQ sauce or your favorite BBQ sauce

Combine the ingredients in a small bowl.  Pour over ribs and rub onto both sides.  Marinade for at least 30 minutes (or more if you have time) to infuse flavor into meat.

Cooking Instructions (Broiler):

BBQ Country Style Ribs

  • Start by boiling the ribs to tenderize them.  Place marinaded ribs in a pot and cover with cold water.  In the image above you can see that the water level is just above the ribs.  Boil on high heat for 15-20 minutes.

  • Remove the ribs from the pot and place on a shallow baking sheet lined with aluminum foil (see image above).
  • Set your oven’s broiler to the Low setting.  Place the ribs in the oven uncovered and broil for 15 minutes on the “sliced” side.
  • Take out of oven and brush a light coating of BBQ sauce on the “sliced” side.  Turn ribs over and brush BBQ sauce on the “fatty” side.
  • Return the ribs to the broiler and cook for another 15 minutes.
  • Slice the ribs or use a meat thermometer to check that the ribs are cooked through.
Tips for Grilling Ribs:

To cook the ribs on the grill, follow the instructions above.  I preheat my Weber gas grill closed on high.  Before I place the ribs on the grill, I reduce the heat to medium.  If your grill has a thermometer on the cover, adjust the temperature as needed so it stays below 375.  If the temperature is too high, the ribs will burn and dry out.

This recipe works well on different types of ribs and can be adjusted to your taste.  In my family, we have three sauce preferences.  In the first image, the ribs on the left don’t have BBQ sauce; these are for Lucas.  The ribs on the right have a light coating of BBQ for me.  For Enrique and Chyna, I serve the ribs with extra sauce on the side so they can add as much sauce as they want.

These ribs practically cook themselves.  This recipe is a great weeknight meal or party dish.  You can serve these BBQ country style ribs with your favorite sides, including Mac and Cheese and Potato Salad.  Use #latinamominnyc to share pictures if you try this recipe.
